Panelists Ambassador Anwarul K Chowdhury, UN Secretary-General's Envoy on Youth Jayathma Wickramanayake and UN Women representative Sophie Giscard D’Estaing, at young women's role in peace and security eventMonthly meetings are held by the NGO Committee on the Status of Women, New York on various topics that promote gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls. The September 28 meeting highlighted the important contributions of young women in peace and security, as is recognized in two UN Security Council Resolutions: 1325 and 2250. As the NGO CSW/NY Young Professionals Subcommittee Co-chair, Ivy Gabbert of OUNA organized and moderated the panel on: “Peace and Security and the Role of Young Women: The Link between UNSCR 1325 and 2250”.

Speakers included: Ambassador Anwarul K. Chowdhury, Former Under-Secretary-General and High Representative of the United Nations; Jayathma Wickramanayake, United Nations Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth; and Sophie Giscard D’Estaing, UN Women Policy Analyst for Peace and Security.
