SGI Annual Peace Proposals
The Soka Gakkai International has issued annual peace proposals since 1983--the year the SGI was accredited as a non-governmental organization to the UN--containing ideas grounded in Buddhist humanism for viable responses to global issues. A central and consistent focus of these proposals has been on ways of revitalizing and strengthening the role of the UN and encouraging grassroots support by fostering a sense of global citizenship among people. Along with the annual peace proposals, SGI has also made thematic proposals on issues such as education, sustainable development, UN reform and nuclear abolition. The proposals help guide the activities undertaken by SGI organizations globally.
