SGI participated in the first Global Conversation on climate change organised by the Parliament of the World’s Religions, in partnership with SGI and others, on 5 December. Global Conversations are virtual gatherings on climate change with a diverse global interfaith community. Alexandra Masako Goossens-Ishii of SGI joined as one of the conversationalists representing a Buddhist perspective, along with other speakers including those representing Christianity, Hinduism, Islam and Judaism. Goossens-Ishii introduced SGI’s non-formal education efforts to promote intergenerational conversations. She stressed the importance of inner transformation while challenging to change systems.
This first Global Conversation was moderated by Joshua Basofin, Director of Climate Action at the Parliament of the World’s Religions. The video of the Global Conversation can be found online.
