6th Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development

The Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD) took place from 27 to 29 March at the UN Conference Centre in Bangkok. Hiro Sakurai of SGI participated.

At APFSD, SGI had a booth which showcased Mapting, a mobile app co-developed with the Earth Charter International for the promotion of the SDGs. Mapting was featured on 29 March at a side event titled “Building a Regional Movement for Sustainable Development through Online Platforms” co-organized by the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) SDG Help Desk, UN Development Programme (UNDP) Bangkok Regional Hub, MY World 2030 Advocates, and UN Volunteer Programme.

Prior to APFSD, the Asia-Pacific People’s Forum on Sustainable Development (APPFSD) was held 24-26 March. The Asia Pacific Faith-based Coalition for Sustainable Development (APFC) organized a workshop titled “Empowering People: Faith-Based Organizations ensuring inclusiveness and equality” on 26 March. SGI helped organize the workshop and made the opening remarks as APFC’s convener, followed by presentations from representatives of the Islamic Relief Worldwide, World Vision International, ACT Alliance and Arigatou International.
