Asia Pacific Faith-based Coalition for Sustainable Development Launched at UN Forum

On 28 March 2018, World Vision International, ACT Alliance, Islamic Relief Worldwide, SGI and Arigatou International co-organized the official launch of the Asia Pacific Faith-based Coalition for Sustainable Development (APFC) at the Fifth Asia Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development held in Bangkok. APFC aims to bring together faith communities and amplify the unique roles they can play in achieving the SDGs.

SGI joined a panel on the role of faith communities in sustainable development together with representatives from the National Catholic Commission on Migration and Islamic Relief Worldwide. Shinji Kubo, Officer-in-Charge of UNHCR Representation in Thailand, spoke about the important role faith communities have on the SDGs and welcomed the launch of APFC.
