ICAN Celebrates the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize

On 10 December 2017, the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN) was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo, Norway, in recognition of its work to bring attention to the humanitarian impacts of nuclear weapons and the “ground-breaking efforts to achieve a treaty-based prohibition of such weapons.” Since the launch of ICAN in 2007, the SGI has been proud to work as one of the campaign’s international partners. SGI representatives joined the awards ceremony and other celebratory events. To read the Nobel Lecture delivered by Beatrice Fihn and Setsuko Thurlow, visit the ICAN website.
